Institution Dinner 2022

A titanic evening

The annual dinner- a celebration of everything civil engineering surveying

THE institution’s annual dinner took place on 16 September at the Titanic Hotel in Liverpool.

The hotel is set within the historic Port of Liverpool, one of the city’s most iconic areas, Stanley Dock.

It was once the largest and most complete system of historic docks in the world.

The busy warehouse has now transformed into a hotel full of character, which preserves the charm of the original Victorian architecture combined with contemporary design.

Over 270 guests attended the dinner, hosted by president Dr Andrew Evans and his wife, Jo. Before the dancing, institution awards were made to former presidents Ian Bush and Steve Jackson with Mark Hudson receiving the president’s medal.

A special service award was presented to Alan Lees for 25 years long and loyal service to the institution.

The CICES commercial management award 2022 was presented to Rob Jewell and the Robins Jones’ Awards were presented to Prince Bahati and Arthur Bateman (joints winners) in the category – overcoming challenges and breaking boundaries through education, training and development; Ciara Williams (winner) in the category – equality, diversity and inclusion and Agana Parameswaran (winner) in the category – innovation and sustainability.

A charity draw was held with prizes kindly donated by CICES, Leica Geosystems, Topcon and Trimble raising £1,384 for Merseyside Youth Challenge Trust – a cause personally chosen by the president. CICES thanks sponsors Hexagon, KOREC Group, Topcon and Trimble for their support.

Special thank you to Alan Lees for organising an amazing evening in what will be his last dinner for the institution. The photographs were taken by Stuart Standring of Event Photography Bristol.
