EDI Spotlight

EDI Spotlight

WELCOME to EDI Spotlight, a new regular feature in CES where we will focus on how we are improving equity, diversity and inclusivity across CICES and beyond. In this first edition, we will give you an insight into the work of the EDI Council and the priority areas ahead.

The EDI Council had a restart at the beginning of 2023, with the appointment of a new chair, Simon Navin, shortly followed by the addition of a new vice chair, Bernice Cowton. Simon and Bernice work closely with EDI Council members to ensure that CICES has clear priorities and outcomes that will deliver an improved understanding of the importance of EDI across its membership.

The council’s continued focus will be around three core themes of governance and good practice, developing the institution and membership and influencing change in the industry and wider society.

Updates

All members will soon be able to access revised terms of reference for the EDI Council as well as the evolving plan of priorities from the website.

In future editions of EDI Spotlight we will share updates on how CICES is spreading the EDI message beyond just its membership as well as updates from exciting new developments such as the Women’s Network, the EDI Council’s first dedicated member network.

The Women’s Network, under the leadership of Genna Rourke, will support and enable greater equity, diversity and inclusivity across our membership, industry and beyond and be a trailblazer for others to follow. It will create opportunities to champion gender equality, build allyship with other members and challenge outdated industry views and practices.
