Almost 4,000 engineers and technicians professionally registered in 2022
The Engineering Council has congratulated 3,893 new registrants so far this year following a successful assessment of their engineering competence and commitment through practical experience. It includes more than 1,800 engineers and technicians who became professionally registered in the second quarter of 2022, while there were over 1,000 new EngTech registrants in the first half of 2022.
Registrants are able to use post nominal letters after their names to show they hold one of these legally protected titles, demonstrating their professional status. In the second quarter of 2022, 1,063 people achieved chartered engineer (CEng), 214 people achieved incorporated engineer (IEng), 522 people achieved engineering technician (EngTech), and 54 people achieved information and communications technology technician (ICTTech) status.
Engineering Council CEO, Alasdair Coates, said: “Registration provides confidence for society, employers and customers, who can verify that every registrant’s competence has been independently assessed and they understand the importance of committing to working in an ethical and sustainable way.”

Grant-funded Industry experiential learning
Constructionarium has become the only UK provider accredited by the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) to deliver grant-funded experiential learning in the UK.
Employers who can access CITB levy can benefit from receiving a tier three grant of £120 per person when attending a Constructionarium event.
The training covers all aspects of personal development skills and is ideal for team building, as an introduction to construction, for emerging talent/early careers programmes and also supports skills training.
The not-for-profit organisation, which delivers education and training to students who are studying and professionals across the built environment sector, has CITB accreditation which meant they can offer CITB-funded training within the industry.
Their grant-eligible short courses can be found on CITB’s construction training directory via https://bit.ly/3dSEFZ3
Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022 )
CICES is saddened to hear of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Our thoughts are with the royal family. CICES president Andy Evans pays tribute:
“On behalf of all of our members and trustees around the world who operate under a royal charter, it is appropriate to acknowledge the diligent, dignified, inquisitive and selfless service that Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II continuously committed to throughout her life.
The best way to show our respect to this wonderful lady, our Queen of more than 70 years, and all that she has done, is to continue our engagements in a manner similar to that demonstrated by Her Majesty since she was crowned in 1953.
In all our individual professional interactions we will continue to exhibit the qualities of Her Majesty; intelligence, respectfulness, curiosity, and do so with an appropriate sense of humour.
By marking the event of Her Majesty’s death with these words, it seems right as a measure of respect to reiterate that under the royal charter, CICES will continue meeting its duty as a charitable organisation and will carry on advancing the art and science of civil engineering surveying for the betterment of our members and the communities that we serves as a profession”.

Dear Andy,
It’s so sad to hear this news on the 8/9/22. I really sympathise with the Royal Family for the loss of our beloved Queen of England. I am alert for any further arrangement from the Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
My Regards
Yayah Kamarakeh.
Well said Andy
