Bentley announces iTwin4Good winner

Bentley Systems and global nonprofit Enactus have announced SiTESalvage as the winner of the 2025 iTwin4Good challenge, an international competition launched by the two companies that brought university students together from across the globe to apply digital twin technology to solve real-world challenges. With its winning entry, SiTESalvage, representing the UK and Ireland, developed a digital twin-powered platform and marketplace that helps divert demolition materials away from landfills.

The runners-up included Basola from Germany and EcoTwins from Canada.

   

 

Ardent appoints Jim Tidball as new digital lead

Ardent has taken on Jim Tidball as part of its latest growth strategy. Jim has handled significant budgets and supported major digital projects in a career spanning more than 30 years, with experience in helping to transform the digital capabilities of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, Department of Health and Social Care and the Ministry of Defence.

His appointment will see Ardent sharpen its focus on digital technology with an aim to improve efficiency and offer a better service to clients.

   

 

ACE responds to the government’s new Small Business Plan

The Association for Consultancy and Engineering has applauded the government’s commitment to UK SMEs, notably the championing of further measures to eliminate late payment. Among the recent suite of announcements was the first government-backed SME strategy in more than a decade. Marie-Claude Hemming, director of policy at ACE Group, said: “Small businesses are the lifeblood of our economy and the engineering design and consultancy sector is no exception.”

   

 

Artec 3D digitises Luxembourg for Expo 2025 Osaka

Artec 3D has digitised the cultural landmarks of its native Luxembourg for Expo 2025 Osaka. Using its 3D scanning and photogrammetry solutions, the company

high- digital sights across Luxembourg, including the Grand Ducal Palace (pictured), the Gëlle Fra monument and the Huelen Zant military fortress.

At this year’s World Expo, held in Osaka, Japan, these realistic models were integrated into the Luxembourg Pavilion’s AR experience, allowing thousands of visitors to experience the country’s historic landmarks in detail.

The solutions used include AI Photogrammetry to reconstruct digital twins from drone imagery, Artec Ray II to scan expansive building exteriors with LiDAR, the wireless Artec Leo to capture detailed 360-degree views, and Artec Spider II to pick up individual features to a high level of detail.
