OCU Group has recently been granted a new commercial management approved development scheme. New chief executive for ACE
The Association for Consultancy and Engineering (ACE) has appointed Kate Jennings as its new chief executive, strengthening the association’s position as a leading voice for UK consultants and engineers in the built environment.
Ideally placed, Ms Jennings’ extensive infrastructure career includes serving in the Cabinet Office and the Department for Transport leading on EU and international transport policy, followed by a strategic leadership role at the Railway Industry Association and her most recent post as an executive board member at Logistics UK where she established a strong policy team and strategy for success.
CICES officially registered in Australia
The institution has officially registered in Australia as CICES Oceania PTY Ltd with Russell Welsh FCInstCES as a director. Russell is heading up the region as chair and it has already successfully held its first event which was a joint presentation with the Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors – with more events planned. CIC appoints new deputy chair
The Construction Industry Council (CIC) has appointed Ian Brant as its new deputy chair commencing with immediate effect. Mr Brant – a director at Brant Construction Quantum Experts, a consultancy specialising in construction dispute avoidance, dispute resolution and drafting Expert quantum reports – is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), serving on national and international committees and is currently serving as an elected trustee.
Ian takes over from former CIC chair Justin Sullivan who was currently in the role of immediate past chair. Ian Brant, said of his appointment: “I am deeply honoured to have been elected as the new deputy chair for CIC. CIC is uniquely positioned to help the built environment professional bodies and its wider membership to liaise with government for the benefit of our industry and society. I look forward to working closely with our current chair, Dr Wei Yang, and our chief executive Graham Watts OBE, as well as our experienced and dedicated board of directors in driving that collective ambition.”
New report tackling carbon reduction in the landscape sector
Landscape and Carbon is a vital new report on carbon reduction in the UK landscape sector by the Landscape Institute and the British Association of Landscape Industries. A direct response to the UK’s target to reach net zero by 2050, the report – a call to action to reduce carbon in landscape schemes and works – sets out the climate action the sector is taking and how landscape can provide solutions for reducing and sequestering carbon in development.
