Cocktails first, questions later with CICES Americas

CICES Americas cordially invites all members within the region to attend the first, hopefully in a series of virtual meetings. The first meeting is a virtual cocktail party on Tuesday 9 April 2024, commencing EST 7:30pm; CST 6:30pm and 4:30pm on the West Coast. The meeting should finish around EST 9pm, CST 8pm and 6pm on the West Coast.

How does a virtual cocktail party work we hear you ask? Well, you bring your own cocktail to the virtual meeting. Your selected beverage can be whatever you desire, your favorite tipple, or you can try a new concoction, nonalcoholic cocktails/ mocktails, or even coffee. The meeting will begin with introductions from the Americas region chair, Simon Braithwaite and secretary, Neil Fleming. They will introduce themselves, their roles and experience with the institution follwed by, and most importantly, telling you about their selected cocktails.

What would members like?

The meeting will then be an open floor for all attending members to introduce themselves, describe their cocktail, explain why they selected the drink, and what each member would like to get from region meetings in the future.

CICES Americas is keen to learn how often members would want to meet – monthly; every second month or quarterly? Does a particular time work best for the Americas region? Would members like a training element and if so on what topics? Would they like a networking element, presentations from survey equipment suppliers or presentations on contract situations?

Unlike the United Kingdom and most of the rest of the world, there is not the same use of NEC/FIDIC/IChemE. Still, most government contracts in the Americas do follow similar formats and content. The chair/secretary will finish the meeting with a summary of hopes and wishes for future meetings.

It is your Americas region and we seek your input on what you would desire at your meetings. We look forward to your attendance and hearing about all the incredible drinks. Cheers!
