Make your vote count: CoM ballot open

The CICES Council of Management (CoM) ballot is now open. If you’re a corporate member (member or fellow) you will have received a ballot form to elect the next chapter of CoM members. CoM members, who are trustees of the institution, play a vital role in representing the wider membership and steering the direction of CICES. Make sure you cast your vote and return the ballot form before 26 August 2022. 

ADS news

CICES has welcomed two new commercial approved development schemes (ADS) for Story Contracting and Taziker Industrial and a new geospatial ADS for Laing O’Rourke. There have also been reapproved geospatial schemes for Survey Solutions, Omega Geomatics, Siteline and Tarmac and reapproved commercial schemes for Kier, Scottish Water, Volker Fitzpatrick and United Utilities. 

New CIHT president

The Chartered Institution of Highways & Transportation (CIHT) is pleased to announce the election of Neil Johnstone as its new president for 2022/23. In a digital address Mr Johnstone called for a need for all transportation professionals to take personal steps and help take action against climate change: “I have always been a great supporter of change management and throughout my career have always sought to have this as a focus. Climate action is one of CIHT’s key themes and will need all of us to make changes if we are to rise to the challenge. And that challenge is clear.” 

CICES Commercial Management Conference: Digital Transformation

Thanks to all the speakers and guests who attended the free half-day commercial management conference covering digital transformation. A special thank you to David Philp, Aecom for chairing the event and to Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner for hosting. 

Mock Arbitration at Stockport Town Hall

Thanks to all the cast and guests who participated in the joint mock arbitration event with CIOB and CIArb and to Sir Rupert Jackson, who was the arbitrator.
