Nominations for Council of Management

WE will soon be calling for nominations to Council of Management. This is the most senior of all of the institution committees and its structure and appointment processes are set out in our charter and bylaws.
Council of Management will oversee the delivery of our new strategy and corporate plan, and it will provide oversight and direction for the institution into the future. Being part of council is a way for members to really make a difference. You will provide oversight on the work of the various committees, hold the CEO to account and demonstrate and champion our values and our vision.
There are 18 of your peers on Council of Management. These include the president, immediate past president, senior vice president and vice president. They are joined by the honorary secretary. Members of council come from both disciplines of commercial management and geospatial engineering. Their role, as your representatives, is to bring their experience to the table and decide how the institution is run and make sure it is doing what it was set up to do.
It is a responsible position, requiring an active role in the governance of the institution in order to ensure we are effective, efficient, act with integrity and, importantly, remain relevant.
Inclusive
When the institution was established, its members were already acting in an inclusive way by stipulating that appointment to the Council of Management is open to all full members and fellows, and is undertaken by election each year. We are looking for a diverse and inclusive Council of Management with members from different backgrounds.
To achieve this we need members from similarly diverse backgrounds to put themselves forward. If you think that you may be interested in joining council, please put your name forward.
If you believe you have the skills and qualities which we are seeking, you will need your nomination to be supported by two existing full members or fellows, who will act as your proposer and seconder. Nominations open on 1 June 2022, and you will be reminded about this in next month’s Civil Engineering Surveyor and via email.
