WHAT did CICES ever do for us?
The thinking.
As I think about the achievements and actions of one of our most recent fellows, Rachel Tyrell, I’m reminded of the innovation, expertise and general outstanding professionalism of all our members.
Our industry is always the first to be exposed to or even the first to identify the new technologies that can be used to further increase the capabilities of the civil engineering surveyor.
With those new technologies come standards, best practice guides, in-depth analysis of the tool’s suitability in everyday measurement activities and more.
As an institution we know our members invest a significant amount of time in understanding and implementation of new technology and working methods and also understanding the impact throughout the project execution.
With that in mind, and to delve into our strategy, I would like to remind anyone reading this that further development of our profession and the process of future-proofing is a key part of the strategy moving forward. We will support this by ‘doing the thinking for you’.
Our knowledge hub and regional network will provide pointers to new and existing guidelines and where developments are considered significant, we will leverage our members (that have time) to produce the documents and information that do the thinking for you – don’t tell me that the institution doesn’t do anything for you.
White paper launched
Finally, I am pleased to announce that following extensive research, our white paper ‘Transforming the civil engineering surveyor’ has been launched.
We would like to thank all those who have contributed to its publication.
You will be able to find this in our centre pages.
