Hong Kong

Hong Kong region sent a bouquet of flowers to the British Consulate in Hong Kong out of respect to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Following the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, CICES Hong Kong region chairman, Daniel Sum, sent a flower bouquet to the British Consulate General in Hong Kong. It was with a mark of respect that they also sent their condolences after the passing of the Queen and said she would always be remembered in their hearts for interest in and granting of the royal charter to the institution.

Northern Counties

The Northern Counties region members enjoyed a tour of the Komatsu site in County Durham earlier in September. Thanks was given to Komatsu’s Richard Clement for his CPD talk on ‘The Digital Transformation of Earthmoving’.

Manchester Lecture CPD event. Speakers so far, include Costain Group’s Genna Rourke, Network Rail’s Steve Cooper, Jacobs’s Simon Navin, the Technology and Construction Court’s Mrs Justice O’Farrell DBE, and the current president of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb), Jane Gunn. Various prices for members and students, including early bird prices.

06 OCT 22: Surveying and modelling the British Library

University of East London USS Campus, London, 6.15pm-7.30pm

Speaker: Sam Brown, Survey Manager, Vision Engineering.

A free presentation on the recent project to survey and model the British Library in Boston Spa. Topics include combining multiple data collection methods, such as UAV, point cloud, terrestrial scanner and GNSS. Plus, discussions around managing multiple subcontractors on a large project together with IT issues due to large data sets and models for a small business.

South West & South Wales

20 OCT 22: Annual Quiz of the Year

The Volley, Bristol, 6pm start

There will be teams of four, which can be arranged on the night. Free buffet around 6.45pm. All welcome, including friends/ colleagues. £5 charge per team and £2 charge for individual quizzers – all donated to charity
