UK’s largest geospatial event

GEO Business is back

Join us from 24-25 November for the UK’s largest geospatial event, live and in-person at ExCeL London

WEDNESDAY 24 November marks the return of GEO Business, which will take place at the new venue of ExCeL London. The two-day event is a must-attend for anyone who wants to discover how geospatial technology can help them work smarter.

GEO Business is the UK’s largest geospatial event designed for everyone involved in the gathering, storing, processing and delivery of geospatial information. The event brings together industry experts and leading organisations from around the world to display, demonstrate and debate the remarkable impact geospatial technology and solutions are having on our global environment.

The event includes a two-day exhibition of more than 200 suppliers and service providers of geospatial technology showcasing the latest innovations, with interactive features and hands-on demos. Plus, there’s a free-to-attend education programme packed with keynotes, seminars, panel discussions and workshops delivered by 200+ expert speakers. That’s not to mention the range of networking events and exciting show features on offer at the show.

Event director Ollie Hughes comments: “We’ve been overwhelmed by the anticipation and support for GEO Business 2021. After so much uncertainty during the last 18 months, we’re delighted to be back, live and in-person, with a landmark event for the geospatial community. This year’s edition of GEO Business is a vital platform for the community to tell their stories, to talk about their journeys during the last year and to unite everyone to drive positive change. We hope you can join us this November and be a part of what’s set to be a key event for the profession.”

Brand new theatre programme

The programme at GEO Business is made up of 80+ hours of free-to-attend content delivered by geospatial thought leaders. Visitors can also claim CPD hours by attending any of the sessions that are part of the programme.

Ollie continues: “We’re excited to launch our new look theatre programme at GEO Business this year, featuring seven new theatres themed around some of the key areas shaping the geospatial field, including practical applications of geospatial technology, emerging technologies, sustainability, GIS and data, and the future of the profession.”

The In Practice Theatre focuses on real-life examples and applications of geospatial technology and data in business and industry. Case studies include a talk from SCCS Survey’s Craig Holt about monitoring the Hinkley Point C nuclear power station project and a presentation by Noemi Roecklinger from Arup discussing automated maintenance inspections of the High Speed 1 tunnels for Network Rail. Plus, the programme includes instructional sessions looking at the practical application of geospatial tech, such as drone survey fundamentals by Pieter Franke of the Drone Survey School and a ‘fireside chat’ about wireless sensing with Matt Azzopardi from Worldsensing.

The Environment & Sustainability Stage looks at how geospatial innovation can help us achieve net zero and adapt to the consequences of global warming. Highlights include a session on natural flood management in the Thames catchment by Dr Gavin Haughton from the Environment Agency, a presentation about Edinburgh’s Green Blue Network by Elspeth McIntyre from Atkins and much more.

Seminars at the Future of the Profession Theatre address diversity and inclusion within the geospatial workforce, how to enhance geospatial capabilities and create the profession for the future. Speakers include Ann Allen MBE CEO CICES, who will look at how we can create an inclusive profession, and Simon Navin from Jacobs, who will discuss geospatial careers. The programme also covers business transformation and new market opportunities for geospatial technology, including a look at the future of the Earth observation data and services market by Sylvain Drilholle from Euroconsult and a seminar on photogrammetry and future military requirements by Peter Egan from the British Army (Corps of Royal Engineers).

Other theatres include the Main Stage, Innovation Stage, GIS & Data Hub and Tech Stage. To check out the full programme, visit www.digitalconstructionweek.com/programme
